As the nature of our workplace changes, the way that we conduct internal investigations changes as well. The objectives of investigations, however, has not changed. Procedures and processes are continuing to evolve to adapt to the changes in the workplace while keeping up the long-established standards. Investigators need to balance efficiency with effectiveness and manage expectations. Remote investigations rely on the collection of data, so confidentiality and data protection are an essential aspect of a remote investigations process. This panel will discuss the changing nature of internal compliance investigations including employee pushback of new procedures, the way remote investigations has impacted integrity culture, the way data has equipped investigators, and what has surprised the panelists – either good or bad – about the remote investigation process.
